Okmalumkoolkat has finally released the Gqi! music video over the past weekend and everyone was waiting for it to drop. #Gqi is a dope song and the dance moves that OkMalumKoolKat pulled on the live performances drew everyone to liking the song and with all that said a great dance video was expected. See the video below.
We watched it also and to be quite frank the concept of the video is awesome as the song itself is talking about Malum’s hometown. ” Umlazi hasn’t been covered properly on TV, also I wanted it to get some shine,” says Malum’. Umlazi was expected to be the main setting of the video and we loved that, it deserves a 4/5.
On the video we also take note of the beautiful Sho Madjozi dominating the video, we should watch out for this lady she’s a heat coming with flames, cultural but relevant simultaneously.
He he he… I wonder who’s house is that, hopefully the roof is still intact after that #Gqi dance on top of it. getto but we love that.
So with all the good comes the bad ish unfortunately. As mentioned above this is a hit song from OkMalumKoolKat and the expectations were too high for the fans. I personally told people that the video will be dope when I saw the dance moves from Malum’ himself and I would take back my words when I consider the art direction and quality of the video.
Funny I’m currently listening to YFM as I’m reviewing the song and Ayanda MVP decided to play the song, Uhmm her views about the video are exactly as mine. –Bongani Ngcobo
We also read some comments on the video itself on Youtube and well some of the people aren’t as happy while there are those that are happy about it saying they are impressed that the video came out sooner and I think that was their biggest mistake, rushing to drop the vid before they made their own reviews.
Apparently the video is not so great. we love the song, it’s dope.- Ayanda MVP
It is also alleged that this is a diss song directed to Cassper Nyovest for stealing Smiso’s dance moves so they say. One could easily believe this as we’ve seen how Cassper and OkMalumKoolKat have grown apart lately. Not even in a single track Nyovest is featured like the good old days.
